There are so many great things headed your direction! Here are a few commonly asked questions with answers to help clear any confusion you might have.

How do I know what level class I should enroll my child in?

Belladance offers 4 stages of class ranks. To begin, these rankings are broken down by age.

Belladancers can begin as early as three years old. All of our three-year-old dancers take a weekly 45-minute class. This class will include ballet, tap and tumbling. Simply create an account on our Belladance parent portal and create an account for your dancer. Any 45-minute weekly class that is offered will be where you should enroll your dancer. To find out more about this class, please visit the “Toddler Dance” page.

The next level class is for our four and five-year-old dancers. All dancers in this age range take a weekly 75-minute class. This class includes ballet, tap and tumbling. Simply create an account on our Belladance parent portal and create an account for your dancer. Any 75-minute weekly class that is offered will be where you should enroll your dancer. To find out more about this class, please visit the “Beginner Dance” page.

Our third level class is for our six and seven-year-old dancers. All dancers in this age range take a weekly 90-minute class. This class includes ballet, tap and tumbling. Simply create an account on our Belladance parent portal and create an account for your dancer. Any 90-minute weekly class that is offered will be where you should enroll your dancer. To find out more about this class, please visit the “Combination Dance” page.

Our highest-level class is for our dancer’s eight years and older. All dancers in this age range take a weekly 2-hour class. This class includes ballet, tap and jazz. Simply create an account on our Belladance parent portal and create an account for your dancer. We have multiple levels of two hour classes for our dancers of different ages. If this is your dancer’s first time taking, be sure to call the studio to find out your dancer’s most ideal placement at (859)-414-1254. To find out more about this class, please visit the “Combination Dance” page.

How does payment work?

Your dancer’s tuition will be due on a trimester payment. Your first payment will be due on the day of registration in July/August, your second payment will be due the first week of November, and your third and final payment will be due in February. These three payments will cover all dance classes from the beginning of September to the end of April.

A $40 non-refundable registration fee, per year, per family, will be due upon enrollment with your first tuition payment.

What does my child need?

Proper dance attire is something we hold with such high value in our studio. Making sure your dancer has the proper dance wear will not only allow them to dance better; but to also feel better!

All dancers should wear a black leotard and pink tights to class. These are our standard set colors, so please be sure to stay away from any gymnastics leotards or other colorful bodysuits. Dancers of all ages will also need pink ballet shoes, and black tap shoes. Dancers in our two-hour classes will also need tan jazz shoes.

Your dancer will need a dance bag to keep their shoes in each week. This can be any type of bag, as long as both pairs of shoes fit inside. Oftentimes our dancers bring a sparkly bag with a zipper or a small backpack to wear.

The best time to buy these items is during our Fall Open House and Registration events. During these events, we will have multiple options for each of the necessary items that your dancer needs for class. We will have knowledgeable assistants to help size your dancer accordingly for anything you might need. There is no markup on these items whatsoever, we simple do this as a convenience for you.

The dates of our 2024-2025 Open Houses are as follows:

Fort Thomas Open Houses:

  • 6:00-7:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, August 28

Florence Open Houses:

  • 6:00-7:30 pm
    • Tuesday, August 27

If you are unable to come during this time, you can find these items online or at any local dancewear store in the area.

Do I drop my dancer off for class and leave, or do I stay?

All classes at Belladance operate on a closed-door policy. This is truly for the benefit of your dancer and allows them to grow as much as possible during their time with us. When parents are present in the classroom, the dancers often get distracted or can even feel intimidated.

However, we truly always seek to find a happy medium. We want you to see the growth of your dancer throughout the year. In order to achieve this, we oftentimes invite the parents into the classroom for the final 10-15 minutes at various times throughout the year.

In addition to the small check-ins, two times per year, our studio holds Parent Observation Week. During these two weeks, you will be invited to watch the entirety of your dancer’s class! We love showing you all of the growth and progress your dancer is making; so, we highly recommend you take full advantage of these times!

What is the performance schedule?

Beginning in September, your dancer will focus on learning new terminology and master new technique. Technique is so important and takes time to develop. We will use the months of September to December to learn these skills. When coming back after our winter break in January, we will put these skills to work and incorporate them in the recital routines the dancers will begin to learn. Our studio holds one year recital at the end of the dance season. The year-end recital is one of our favorite events that occurs during the end of April. During this recital, your dancer will showcase everything they have learned throughout the season at Belladance. Dancers in a 45-minute class will perform 1 routine (ballet or tap). Dancers in a 75 or 90-minute class perform 2 routines (ballet and tap). Dancers in a two-hour class perform 3 routines (ballet, tap and jazz). The costumes that you purchase in November will be worn during this recital in April!
